1. Identified as Constance, wife of John Leslie, by her grandson, Sir Shane Leslie (see note in Jarndyce catalogue); the letter is laid in a 1st edn of Pickwick Papers, belonging to him; see also Pilgrim Letters 12, p. 486 n1, where delete “Probably”.
