- 1. Edwin Augustus Seagrove (1817-80), Royal naval and military outfitter, 22 and 23 The Hard, Portsea. Incorrectly identified as "Edward" in Pilgrim Letters 11, p. 233n.
- 2. Sydney Smith Haldimand Dickens (1847-72), CD’s seventh child (affectionately known as 'the Admiral'). He was then serving as a Midshipman aboard HMS Bristol; see To Chapman & Hall, Pilgrim Letters 11, p. 233.
