- 1. Messrs H.J. Nicoll & Co. provided CD with tailoring services from 1848-68. Payments to this firm (by cheque, as recorded in CD's bank account) were generally quite small, averaging between £2 and £5 (MS Messrs Coutts). The payments CD made to other tailors were invariably for larger amounts.
